When you subscribe to the Capitol Crowd Service, you provide us with "Your Registration Information" and "Your Personal Record," each of which is described in detail below (together, "Your Information.")
We use Your Information to enable you to use the Service. Specifically:
By providing any content to this web site:
We collect the names, addresses, phone numbers, and other information of elected officials (referred to as "Public Information"), from public sources and their offices. The Capitol Crowd provides each such individual with a complimentary account, including e-mail address and password, so that the individual may log into the Site, select "Manage My Account," and access, change, add to, and update the Public Information contained in the record. We make Public Information available to our subscribers.
Subscribers who notice errors in Public Information are encouraged to contact the Capitol Crowd via e-mail at info@capitolcrowd.com or call (512) 851-7760. Proposed corrections will be verified before data is changed or deleted.
While changes to Public Information are typically executed immediately, we reserve the right to verify the accuracy of such changes by, for example, comparing such changed information against other available sources. In addition, since Public Information is derived from public sources, we have the right to continue to make it available through the Service.
The Capitol Crowd is committed to protecting your privacy. We will only share Your Information with other subscribers to the Service.
We may share aggregated and anonymous demographic information with our business partners but no such information can be linked directly to your Registration or other personally identifiable information.
Although we will use every reasonable effort to preserve your privacy, we may need to disclose Your Information, including personally identifiable information, when required by law if we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on The Capitol Crowd or the Site. We will notify you of such actions where reasonable and permitted by law.
In order to improve the Service and the Site, we use "cookies" when you are logged into the Site using your e-mail address and password. A cookie is a piece of data that is transferred to your browser by a Web server and can only be understood by the server that gave it to you. It functions as your computer's identification token and enables The Capitol Crowd to personalize your experience when you are signed in to the Site. The cookie also contains your e-mail address so that we can make it easier for you to sign in. If you reject the cookie, you may not be able to sign up for some of the Service or use certain features of the Site.
Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether to accept it. (For some Web pages that require an authorization, cookies are not optional. Users choosing not to accept cookies may not be able to access those pages).
While The Capitol Crowd uses cookies to enable you to use the Services and the Site, and our Web servers automatically log the Internet Protocol ("IP") address of your computer, this information is encrypted and The Capitol Crowd does not use this information to identify you personally except to provide you with the features of the Service.
Like most Internet services, we use log files, both on the client and server side. The data held in log files includes your IP address, browser type, e-mail application, Internet service provider ("ISP"), referring/exit Web pages, computer platform type, date/time stamp, and user activity. The Capitol Crowd uses server log data to analyze trends, administer the Service and the Site, and improve service levels. IP addresses are not tied to any personally identifiable information.
We may send all new subscribers confirmation e-mails verifying the ownership of the e-mail addresses provided in Your Registration Information. We also communicate with you to provide requested services and in regard to issues relating to your subscription.
Members may occasionally receive information on other Capitol Crowd products, services, news and events. Out of respect for your privacy, we present you with the option to not receive these communications.
On rare occasions it is necessary to send out a strictly service-related announcement which is not promotional in nature. This announcement may notify you of changes to the Privacy Policy and/or Terms of Service Agreement, as well as planned service suspensions and outages. Generally, you may not opt-out of these communications, though you can deactivate your account. These notifications will generally be sent to a validated e-mail address for your account.
